Venice

Venice, just south of Sarasota along Florida’s white-sanded Gulf Coast, offers 14 miles of beaches, from Casey Key to Manasota Key and plenty of recreational opportunities, including swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and boating. Venice is a bicycle friendly community. Shelling is also a favorite pastime in Venice, and fossilized shark's teeth can be found by sifting through the sand. Venice Beach attracts reef divers beach because of the reef lying only a quarter mile offshore. Drop a line off  Venice’s 700-foot-long fishing pier or at the South Jetty, which extends several hundred yards into the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy the water while kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing, jet skiing, or parasailing. One of the only dog beaches in the area, is located at South Brohard Beach, there is a Paw Park which boasts a fenced play yard for your furry friends that leads to a wide open 100-yard section of dog beach. There are even dog showers and drinking fountains for dogs. Sports fans also can catch a spring training game at the new Atlanta Braves stadium at Cool Today Park or grab lunch at the Tomahawk Tiki Bar & Grill located in the stadium year-round.
